Care of Our Common Home - CCH WORKSHOP

We’ll do well as a community and individuals to reflect and deepen on how to be better stewards of the Lord and His Creation. With Pope Francis’s latest Encyclical Letter published on June 18, 2015 entitled “Laudato Si”, we learn that care for our environment is not something optional but forms an integral part of our Catholic Teaching and spirituality. Our intent is to cover in two workshops the main tenets of the Encyclical which calls for immediate action because if we do not take care of nature, nature will destroy us. The study of the Theology of Creation is done using the Scriptures, the Tradition of the Church and practical eco-friendly elements of our everyday living. The CCH Workshops will be held Thursdays Aug 4 & 18 at 6:30 pm in the Popes’ Room for a duration of approx. one and a half hour each. Also, during the month of July be ready to enjoy some audio-visuals we will be showing during the Sunday Masses, to awaken a desire in the congregation for loving and being more responsible with our environment. Deacon Tom Tucker, Ana Padilla, parishioner with a degree in Theology from St. Mary’s University and myself will be the facilitators of the workshops. Fidel & Blanca Rocha, will also participate with the practical aspects of this spirituality. There will be bi-lingual handouts available. In order to be proactively eco-friendly and come up with concrete ways to be less wasteful and better stewards, we would like to establish a Green Team, formed by people who care about the earth as a precious gift from God to cherish and relish. If interested please call the parish office and submit your name and contact information. After our first meeting we will know better how we want to proceed. Laudato Si … Be praised Good Lord for brother Sun … (Canticle of Creation, St. Francis of Assisi)
